Embroidery, Print, and Caps: Read the Care Instructions First

The logo may be the same, but the way it is applied changes from one garment to another. Before the first wash, check both the garment label and its product-specific care instructions. A cap also needs attention to its shape, not just the decoration on the front.

First, identify what you own

The Relay Crown Trucker Hat has front embroidery. Terminal Taper Joggers have upper-leg embroidery. The Field Station Rope Cap uses a DTFlex print. That last detail matters: a printed logo on a hat is still a print, even when it resembles another embroidered design.

Printed apparel

For DTG apparel, Printful recommends a gentle cold wash with the garment inside out, mild detergent, and no fabric softener or dry cleaning. Air-dry, or use low tumble heat when the garment permits. Keep the iron off the print.

DTFlex apparel also calls for cold, gentle washing inside out and no fabric softener. Printful allows low tumble drying or air-drying. Do not apply the apparel routine automatically to a structured cap.

Embroidered clothing

Printful recommends cold, gentle washing inside out with mild detergent. Avoid wringing the garment or leaving it piled while wet. Its drying guidance uses cool air. If ironing is permitted, work from the reverse between cloths; avoid steam or wetting the embroidery.

Caps need their own approach

Printful recommends hand-cleaning caps with mild detergent, no bleach, and lukewarm water. Gently spot-clean with a damp cloth and avoid brushes. Machine washing can affect the cap's shape. Check the specific cap label before starting.

Keep the information with the garment

Save a photo of the care label and the product name on your phone. It is easier to check the right instructions at laundry time than to remember which logo was printed and which was stitched.
